There are many attractions in Japan such as great sightseeing of the beautiful landscape. In Japan there are many cultural dances that tourists come to see especially such as the Awa-Odori dance which is a great folk dance. As well as this there are many shopping centres and theme parks for the younger generation.

A few weeks ago, we were introduced to an game design that we could use to create our own simple games such as: Pong, Pacman, Race game and also pigeon shooting. I did two games, the first one i did was pigeon shooting. It only took two lessons because it was one of the more simple games.
I listened to the tutorial and the man told me what to do. The avatars that we used were called sprites, I made 5 pigeon sprites and added a dark background and a cross hare. My first game was totally complete.
My second game was a retro version of ATARI’s Pong game. Once again I listened to the man for the tutorial. Surprisingly it was easier thanpigeon shooting, and I completed it in one lesson.
Overall scratch is a great game designer for amatuer gamers.

Lightsabers project

Recently we have used AdobePhotoshop Elements again to create a graphic design affect of two Lightsabers crossing, nearly like a coat of arms. It was quite hard but basically, what we have done is blur the image around the outside to give it the glowing look of a real lightsaber. Then, we layered the blur three times to so that it is thicker towards the actual saber and fades out quite fast. After that, we coloured the blurred part for the finishing touch and left the blade white to make a perfect replica of a computer generated “Star Wars Lightsaber”.

Crazytalk!

This week in ICT we have been working on something called Crazytalk. This is a programme that allows you to create the image of a picture talking, not even a film! It is basically an novice animation programme. As you can see i have done “The Joker” from the film “The Dark Knight”.

The Merle!

I have been on photoshop element, trying to make a logo for our school newsletter – ‘The Merle’. We had to vote for our favourite name in classrooms, and the most people chose ‘The Merle’, including me! Photoshop element is a great way to create logos with advanced operations, most proffesionals use it! I have hand-drawn my own poor attempt at a Merle and it wasn’t great………

The Merle is a newsletter, written by the boys in years 7, 8 and 9. It consists of what news there has been in the week, such as sports fixtures or even if someone famous is taking a trip to the school!

The name ‘The Merle’ may seem a bit strange, but on the school crest and on all of the boys blazers at Nottingham Boys High School there is three Merle’s.

The reason for all of us drawing or retrieving pictures of Merle’s is that there is a competition – the best Merle will be on the school newsletter!

On PhotoShop elements, there are many good tools, but I only used the drawing tool and colour! The drawing tool lets you hand-draw things yourself, and the colour tool lets you fill in or draw in any colour that you want.

It has been a fun and enjoyable experience in ICT and i have learnt much from PhotoShop element and how to create my own logo!
